Dewar's Inn on the River is truly a unique INN in a peaceful setting, but scuba divers and history buffs find its location a great attraction for more than just the fantastic view!
Once the site of a very large brewery which had its origins in the early part of the 19th century, Dewar's Inn makes for some great shore diving.
Evidence of the brewery is found in the remains of a wharf used at one time to load river boats with spirits destined for other ports. Old bottles can still be found on the river bottom.
The McCarthy family, who bought the Grenville Brewery, actually held their family reunion at Dewar's Inn!
In fact, six red brick cottages on the grounds of the Inn were built from the remains of the brewery when it was dismantled in the 1920's
